Girl Scout Cookie Sales

Goodness: Girl Scout honesty pays dividends

There’s a whole lot of goodness going on in Girl Scout cookie sales.

Meet 11-year-old Charlotte, who felt compelled to follow Girl Scout law: “I will do my best to be honest” and boy did she ever. Her ratings of the various cookies was brutally honest (see her chart to the right).

The Toffee Tastic received a dismal rating of (( 1 )). To hear Charlotte describe it your stomach would punish you forever.

Charlotte emailed her rankings to all, including her father, who is the producer for the Mike Rowe show.  Dad, doing what dad’s do, forwarded the email to Mike Rowe, who read it on the air.

See CBS News interview Charlotte on how her ratings of the cookies served to cement her relationship with her neighbors, and beyond.

CBS EVENING NEWS

With over eight million views of the Mike Rowe piece and another multi-million viewers of the CBS News piece, it is no surprise that Charlotte is blowing the doors off of sales. Which at the time of the CBS News interview was at over 3500 orders for more than 23,000 boxes.

As one can imagine, the Toffee Tastic, was not a big seller, in fact, Charlotte says, she only sold one box, to her grandmother.

There is a lot of goodness going on in this world, we just have to open our eyes to it.

Now where is that box of Thin Mints?
