Brandon Bitner – Age 14
Brandon Bitner was a 14-year-old straight-A freshman student at Midd West High School in Middleburg, Pennsylvania. He wrote a suicide note to his family “I’m sure that when I’m gone, you’ find the strength not to let this happen to anyone else.” He then walked several miles to a highway and stepped into the path of a semi-truck on November 5, 2010 and he was gone. His mother noted that Brandon had been subjected to name calling from classmates at Midd West High. The school’s superintendent said no incidents of bullying were reported in recent months. “There was not one incident where he reported to a teacher at the high school, to a guidance counselor, social worker or principal, now where teachers saw anything either,” said Dr. Wesley Knapp.
I celebrated Christian Taylors 17th BD on 5Nov2010, it was covered by the Washington Post , I was very busy that day, when I really didnt even want to get out of bed, He wasnt there, I cooked his fave meal,Chilli all his friends came over with their boards and used the skatepark the kids made on the concrete slab by the garage they set out the boombox and played Christian’s Music it was like he was there they played well into the night, and I got up on the next day, made coffee and went to the computer and it was already in the news I sat there crying because I had prayed that God would give me my son’s bd with no one else taking their life, it didnt happen but I do know Christian was right there with Jess,Scott,Ty,Asher, and all the others to welcome him to a place where no one judged and everyone got along…..it gave me some peace, but also reminded me of the day 5 months prior to what his Mother was going through…she was at the beginning and I was 5months in….it was a sad day…
It should say “Not” or “nor” instead of “now where teachers saw anything either” Please correct
Much appreciative of the “not/nor” edification – the original source had the “quote” as I have it here – I’ll leave it as original stated by the superintendent of the school – again, my thanks
