The United States census bureau recently released the statistics on poverty. The numbers indicated 1 in 7 Americans are living below the poverty line. When you say it that way it doesn’t sound so bad does it, just 1 in 7. Maybe when you say 15% of the US population sounds larger? How about when when you sit down and figure out just how many individuals does 1 in 7 or 15% equate to, it makes your heart skip a beat. It is approximately ~43,000,000 (43 million). With ~43,000,000 people living below the poverty line in the United States, it then make the statistic surrounding those who are food insecure even more ominous and in need of urgent attention. You see there are 1 in 6 who hunger in the United States – that is more than 50,000,000 people. So yes I am asking for your assistance and a bit of your compassion to join with your personal passion.
I’ve signed up for Feeding America’s annual fund raising campaign, and the VFD2010 is my way of asking those who can separate a dollar from their budget to put it towards the good works of Feeding America – just click on this link: DONATE NOW and you can put that dollar to work with matching funds provided by Libby’s Food. Your $1 magically becomes $2. $1=7 meals — $2=14 meals.
While it may not move someone out of poverty, the meal you provide may sustain them at their job, or energize them through their job interview. Your meal may nourish a young child who is trying their best at school and because they are nourished, they can perform at top capacity. The VFD2010 goal is 35,000 meals, or $2500 – we are at 16% of our target – we need your assistance to get the rest of the way. Please DONATE NOW.
I thank you for your time.
All the best,
Christopher
