Kimberly Linczeski – Age 12
Kimberly Linczeski was a 12-year-old sixth grader who attended Ontonagon Area Junior-Senior High School in Ontonagon village, Michigan. She attempted to took her own life on 3 March 2010 and subsequently passed on 6 March*.
According to her mother, Kimberly had been the target of bullying for months and on the day her suicide, Kimberly had done something she had never done before, she stood up and punched one of those tormenting her. She was sent to the principal’s office, reprimanded and her father was called to take her home. Later that same day, Kimberly took her life. She hung herself in her bedroom.
The superintendent of schools said “the only person who knew why Linczeski committed suicide was Linczeski and that anything beyond that was speculation.”

*Updated per note from Kimberly’s mother Karen. 11 June 2012
Karen, I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful daughter. God Bless You.
First, thank you for the work that you do to help make people aware of the extent of damage that bullying can cause. I pray you never know this pain…
Just a correction on Kimberly’s profile. She did hang herself in her closet on March 3rd. My husband found her and started CPR. Her heart did start beating again and she was airlifted to St Josephs hospital in Marshfield, WI. She actually passed away on March 6, 2010, not the 3rd. Please correct this error. Thank you.
Karen
Karen,
Thank you for the correction. Updated – 11 June 2012
